The CoolerMaster X-Slim Ultra cooling pad is a simple yet effective device for keeping laptops cool. It has a fan that blows cool air upwards towards the laptop and it comes with two legs to elevate the back for more airflow. The design is understated, and the permanently-attached cable is supplemented by ingenious cable management pegs to take up any cable slack underneath the unit. The fan is noticeable but becomes white noise after a while. The fan noise, however, can be loud if it is the only thing in the room running. It does not mess up your laptop and is quiet in operation, meaning it doesn't come with an on/off switch. The fan is powerful and can cool devices of over 17 inches. However, the fan has a fixed speed, rendering it unsuitable for those that need silent operation. The USB cord attached to the machine functions as the power switch turning on the fan as soon as it is plugged in. While it may not work on soft surfaces like a bed, it works great on flat surfaces. In general, it is a great buy for general usage, for those traveling or using it as a main computer.
