The trap attracts all types of flies that feed on foul-smelling or rotting materials. The container comes with initial bait and is easy to set up, where the bucket is placed on the floor with the handle attached and then hung. Some customers found that it did not work for their fly problem, while others found that it attracted more flies and didn't resolve the problem. The Fly Trap is said to be easy to assemble but the top portion may not remain open and may get blown away by the wind. It is sturdy and does not come apart easily, keeping the fly carcasses inside. The product creates a foul smell which tends to attract flies and should not be placed anywhere near residential areas for this reason.
