It reads micro-amps for flame rectifier diode tests on a heater control and AC amps with a range of 50A and 400A resolution at 0.01A. However, it does not read a full range of DC amps. It comes with red and black leads and alligator clips for testing higher voltage, and a magnetic strap for hanging or setting it on a metal surface. The product is well built and has a great backlit display. The swivel head and clamp meter make it a trustworthy companion to a service man's tool bag in difficult working conditions such as muddy crawl spaces, etc.
