How long does it take to install the mount?
Answer: Installation takes only 5 minutes. -

Is drilling required for installation?
Answer: No, no drilling is required for installation. -

Do I need to buy mounting brackets separately?
Answer: Yes, the mount does not include mounting brackets like YSK-8900 or MB-63. -
Question:
Can it be mounted to the driver's seat bolt?
Answer: On a Chevy Silverado you have to remove a plastic cover to get to the passenger seat bolt. The problem is once it's in place that passenger will not be able to slide the seat forward. -
Question:
Will this mount accommodate mounting the entire yaesu ft-857 as opposed to only the control head?
Answer: It would hold the weight but would be very unstable. I would not recommend it for the whole radio. However excellent choice for the control head. -
Question:
Will this mount work with the tyt th-9800 ham radio headplate?
Answer: It should mount right up if the necessary mounting brackets come with th-9800. -
Question:
will it work with a Kenwood v71a?
Answer: Yes, but it is recommended to only use it with the remote head to avoid swaying. Using the remote head kit from Kenwood is also recommended. -
Question:
Will this work with an icom 7100? also how does the radio attach to the mount?
Answer: If the 7100 can be remote mounted, then it should work. There is a mount adapter that can mount just about any remote head radio. -
Question:
Can you mount the whole radio or just the ahead?
Answer: This is a head mount only. -
Question:
Where does the microphone go? I see how the faceplate is mounted, but I don't want the mic just dangling in air.
Answer: You would want to hang your microphone on a hanger mounted somewhere else more than likely. This doesn't have a space for that. -
Question:
What is its length?
Answer: This one is 22' which is just right for my Ford F-150. -
Question:
Does this model use a true gooseneck. Or is it a solid bar made of soft metal? If so is the soft metal bar held in place by opposing set screws?
Answer: This model uses a soft metal rod which is held in place by screws. It does vibrate a little when you drive but it does a good job of holding the radio head.
MFX2 Editorial Review
The mount can be used for remote head radios, but it is not recommended for holding the entire radio due to weight and instability. There are mixed reviews about the vibration when driving. Some customers had to modify the mount to fit their specific vehicles. On the plus side, it is easy to install and sturdy for holding electronics. There are no brackets or mic holder included.
