Continuity in character development and story arcs enriches the overall experience when read in sequence. -

Answer: The book is authored by Martha Wells, a celebrated writer known for her compelling fantasy narratives. Wells has received numerous accolades for her work, establishing a reputation in the speculative fiction genre. Dark Fantasy Editorial Review
The Serpent Sea, the second volume of the Books of the Raksura, continues to be an interesting and fun story with fine world-building. Martha Wells, the author, has secured a place as a master of genre storytelling. However, pacing seems to be a little off, with long stretches of characters running around in what amounts to a maze filled with rubber monsters. Despite some events being very improbable, the story is readable, entertaining and fun. Nevertheless, it is just a little too goofy too often, which breaks the spell of suspended disbelief readers might count on to make them feel connected to a story.
