The light is submersible and can be placed in the filter area of 5-55 gallon fish tanks or ponds. The Electrical cord is about 4 feet long and also has a secondary adapter built in to connect another light. Although the UV light is on all the time, there is no timer included. In terms of concerns, it's hard to replace the bulb when it burns out, and the unit seems to burn out quickly, making it an unreliable choice as a sterilizer. Also, the size of the light and the box makes it difficult to fit through any openings in most hang-on-back filters. However, it's easy to hide and safe to use.
