Andy Warhol General Biographies & Memoirs Editorial Review

The Andy Warhol Diaries is a compiled diary which was originally kept by Andy Warhol's assistant Pat at the time through a series of longhand notes until Warhol's death. The book is purely a record of Warhol's daily activities, experiences, and social encounters in the 70s and 80s, and doesn't focus on his artistic creations. The book offers a glimpse into the social circle that Warhol worked in. It offers some often-sharp observations on people and events, and mentions famous individuals such as Halston, Jamie, and Phyllis Wyeth, Yoko Ono and her son Sean Lennon. The book is heavy, making it hard to read in bed, and can be tedious to read from cover to cover due to its length. However, the book is highly entertaining, funny, and well-written by Pat. It's suitable for the coffee table where one can flip through it when bored. Overall, the book offers a fun insight into the life of an eccentric artist who lived in New York society in the late 20th century.
